Pittsburgh Public School students should return their district-issued devices to school by Tuesday, but there are also select times at four drop-off locations through June 18.

Merecedes Williams, PPS media manager, said that as the school year winds down, the district is gathering laptops, iPads, hotpots and chargers that will require “re-imagining and system upgrades for the 2021–2022 school year.”

That software work will happen over the summer.

Families will have a chance to hand over their items from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 12, 13, 16, 17 and 18 at one of four sites.

“The weekend hours are designed to accommodate working families during non-traditional school hours,” Williams said.

Sites include:

• Pittsburgh Carrick High School, 125 Parkļ¬eld St.

• Pittsburgh Obama, 515 North Highland Ave.

• Pittsburgh King, 50 Montgomery Place

• Pittsburgh Langley, 2940 Sheraden Blvd.

Students who are enrolled in district-sponsored summer learning programs like Summer BOOST or the extended school year can keep their laptops and other devices until they are done.

Also, Williams said students in kindergarten through 11th grade with designated Assistive Technology (AT) devices and who are not attending a summer program can keep their device until the AT device exchange on Aug. 3.

That event will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Program for Students with Exceptionalities (PSE) office at Oliver Citywide Academy, 2323 Brighton Road.

Seniors are required to return laptops, chargers and other equipment before graduation.

If a device was lost, parents should contact the school. Broken devices can be returned at no cost, Williams said.
