LEWISTON - Just before 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Lewiston Police were dispatched to 1315 Vineyard Avenue after receiving a report of an explosive device at the residence.

According to Lewiston Police, 58-year-old Susan Lougee, of Lewiston, had returned home and found an improvised explosive device in her residence.  Police say they determined the improvised device was real and requested assistance from the Spokane Bomb Squad.

While awaiting the arrival of the Spokane Bomb Squad, Susan's son, 37-year-old Aaron Lougee, of Lewiston, was contacted by police on an unrelated call. Police say that during the investigation of that call, Aaron was questioned about the improvised explosive device at his mother's residence, and he admitted to building the device.

Aaron was later taken into custody and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession of an Explosive Device.  The Spokane Bomb Squad safely defused the explosive device.
