Recently FCC submissions add to the mounting evidence that Google is prepping an Android TV-based streaming device that could serve as a successor to the current Chromecast Ultra. 9to5 Google spotted the new filings and it’s possible they refer to Google’s upcoming device and its accompanying remote control.

The new listings refer to a pair of devices with model numbers of GZRNL and G9N9N. And judging by the shape of the intended labels mentioned in the filing, GZRNL likely refers to the streaming device itself, while G9N9N, with its more rectangular label, could be the remote control.

The rounded square label mentioned in the FCC’s listing would fit well with the alleged Sabrina product renders we’ve seen so far.

Reportedly codenamed ‘Sabrina,’ leaked product renders suggest the device follows the existing Chromecast Ultra’s form factor: a rounded puck-style dongle with an HDMI connection directly attached. Meanwhile, leaked shots of a remote control unit show off an input device that somewhat resembles Google’s Daydream VR controller.

Beyond model numbers and label placement, there’s not a whole lot more to tease out of what’s been shared publicly. The filings also include a request to keep certain parts, namely internal and external photos and the user manual, confidential for the time being — a fairly common practice for unannounced products.

For now though, these new listings just add to the rumor mill and we’ll certainly keep watch as we await a formal announcement from Google at some point in the future.
