12-year-old Danbury boy creates device to keep teachers, students safe from coronavirus - News 12 Connecticut

A 12-year-old Danbury boy has created a device to keep teachers, students and the elderly safe as coronavirus still threatens communities across Connecticut.

Frankie Demunda came up with a device to help move around safely as teachers grapple with the thought of heading back to the classroom.

The Mobile Buddy is named after his dog. Demunda says he developed the idea after talking to his science teacher, then went straight to work mending metal to his liking.

Nearly 150 customers have already asked for the Mobile Buddy, but Demunda and his family are asking for a manufacturing company to step up and produce the device.

The middle schooler says he hopes his device makes a difference, and helps the Danbury community as it sees a spike in COVID-19 cases.

His device is patent pending. Anyone looking to help manufacture Demunda's device is asked to reach out on social media.
