A local organization held a device drive Sunday in Greenpoint for students learning remotely during the pandemic.

North Brooklyn Mutual Aid, a community group of neighbors helping neighbors, has a number of initiatives to provide those in need of food and clothing. But its most recent initiative is helping students get access to the technology they need to complete their schoolwork.

The organization collected tablets, laptops, cellphones and more through its Initiative NBK Device Drive.

Organizers also partnered with the Community Education Council for District 14, which says more than 100 students in the district are still without a device.

The devices are donated from those who may no longer need them.

The initiative started weeks ago and organizers say they have gotten around two dozen devices donated.

The device drive happens every Sunday at McGolrick Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The New York City Department of Education released a statement, saying: “Over the past nine months, we have executed an unprecedented effort to get hundreds of thousands of LTE-enabled iPads into the hands of New York City students, ensuring they have access to a high-quality education no matter where they are. We successfully met our goal to deliver the latest batch of 100,000 devices to schools before winter break and will work with schools to address any individual needs that may arise moving forward.”
