RKES Device Collection on June 11 and June 14.
Dear RKES Parents and Guardians,
With the end of the school year less than a month away, we want to inform you of our plan for collecting school devices--laptops, iPads, and hotspots.
We will collect ALL school devices beginning Friday, June 11. The devices for in-person students on that Friday will be collected from the classroom before dismissal. All other students' devices will be collected from 1 pm to 7 pm Friday afternoon and on Monday, June 14, from 7 am to 7 pm. If the devices are not returned by June 14, a bill will be sent to the parent/guardian for the full price of the laptop, iPad and/or hotspot. There are no exceptions to this schedule as we must update the devices and prepare them for distribution in August.
If your child is attending summer school, Rockledge will distribute a laptop to your child before summer school begins.
In accordance with Regulation 426.01-2, a student or their parent/guardian is responsible for reimbursing the School Board for breakage or destruction of property or for failure to return property owned by the School Board. Charges for lost or damaged digital devices will be determined by the principal and will be communicated to parents/guardians through the “Charges Assessed for Lost or Damaged Beyond Repair Digital Devices”. To help us make this collection process as efficient as possible, we ask that you do the following:
- Charge the laptop and iPad before returning it
- Bundle the laptop charging cord with a rubber band
- Put the iPad cable and block in a sandwich bag
- Return the hotspot, power cord and cable in the box it came in
Before returning devices, students should save their files to OneDrive. Once the devices are returned, they will be reset to factory default; no photos or documents will be saved.
