Connie Lau, the president and CEO of Hawaiian Electric Industries, will retire after leading the publicly traded holding company for 15 years.
HEI is the parent company of Hawaiian Electric Company and American Savings Bank.
Lau will be succeeded by Scott Seu, who is currently HECO’s president and CEO. His appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2022.
Shelee Kimura, currently senior vice president of customer service and public affairs at Hawaiian Electric, will replace Seu as HECO president and CEO. She will be the first female chief executive in the utility’s 130-year history.
Lau has been with the HEI family of companies since 1984 and served as president and CEO of American Savings Bank from 2001 to 2008.
