Oxford Food Drive, Tracking Device for Wanderers - Lewiston Sun Journal - Lewiston Sun Journal

pandangsa.blogspot.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Your readers have been so amazing to us so we are reaching out again. Our nonprofit, “From Lil with Love” is run by my six year-old daughter. She is looking for non-perishable food donations for our food drive.

We will be donating the food to two area food pantries in time for Thanksgiving. Our donation box is located at 64 Rabbit Valley Road in Oxford. Readers can drop food off there anytime between now and Nov. 20, or can call (557-6234) or email me ([email protected]) to arrange pick up. Thank you so much! — Laura, Oxford

ANSWER: I’m so impressed with this little girl and what she has managed to do already in her young life. Sun Spots readers have helped her reach out to children in the area who need food and school supplies. Well, done!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like some feedback from readers who have used a tracking device for a loved who has dementia. The one I purchased through Lively doesn’t track “live/now” time. It only tells me where my spouse was 15 minutes ago and that is unacceptable. The type of device I’m looking for must not require that the person with dementia be carrying a smart phone. Please help. — Joan, no town

ANSWER: It would be wonderful if readers will write in who have had a positive experience with a tracking device for their loved one. This is an important topic that I’m sure is top of mind for many of you who are caregivers to those with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

You can also contact Maine’s Alzheimer’s Association in Scarborough (https://www.alz.org/, 1-800-272-3900) for support and guidance or work with your loved one’s healthcare provider for assistance with choosing the appropriate device to keep him safe and to ease your mind.

There are several options for devices that attach to clothing or are placed in a shoe, as well as bracelets, etc. You can also use a FitBit, worn like a watch.

Here are some top choices if you want ideas on what’s available: Angel Sense (https://www.angelsense.com/gps-tracker-for-elderly/), GPS Smart Sole (https://gpssmartsole.com/gpssmartsole/), iTraq (https://www.itraq.com/), PocketFinder (https://pocketfinder.com/), and Revolutionary Tracker (https://matt81853.wixsite.com/website)

DEAR SUN SPOTS: If any readers use HP 932 and 933 ink cartridges in their printer, I have a deal they can’t afford to pass up. The first one who calls 875-2893 and speaks with me or leaves a message will be very happy. They should live in the area between Oxford, Mexico and Bethel or travel through Locke’s Mills. — Dwight, Locke’s Mills

ANSWER: I hope you find someone to take these cartridges off your hands so they don’t go to waste. Remember, dear readers, if you have something you want to sell, please put an ad in the classifieds section. The number to call is  784-3555. Giving an item away or bartering is totally appropriate for Sun Spots though.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I do chair caning and weaving and am in the West Paris area. I can be contacted at 461-0342.  References are available.  Thank you for your extremely helpful column! — Ellie, no town

ANSWER: This is in response to the Sept. 20 Sun Spots. I’ve plunked your information into the Rolodex. Thank you!

This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name. We won’t use it if you ask us not to.
