WhatsApp has begun rolling out its much-anticipated multi-device capability for a substantial number of users on both Android and iOS, allowing people to use their account on additional devices without having to connect their phones to the Internet. Users may use the new function to connect WhatsApp on up to four devices at the same time, allowing them to send and receive messages even when their phones are not connected to the Internet. If you use WhatsApp on a PC or Mac, the upgrade is beneficial.

Multi-device capability on WhatsApp, which was introduced in July after months of internal testing, lets users link their instant messaging account to a secondary device, such as a PC, laptop, or Facebook Portal. It notably provides end-to-end encryption for communications conducted via the secondary device. This implies that neither WhatsApp nor a third party will be able to see the messages you send or receive on your connected PC.

WhatsApp’s standalone functionality allows users to send and receive messages on their secondary devices even when their phones are not nearby. This function also allows you to stay connected to WhatsApp even if your phone runs out of battery.

Before proceeding with the procedures below, keep in mind that you must be using the most recent WhatsApp version to obtain multi-device capability and link your account to a secondary device. The functionality is also presently in ‘beta,’ which may cause some instability for the time being. It is also limited to WhatsApp Web, Desktop, and Portal. This implies that WhatsApp hasn’t yet provided the ability to attach an Android phone or an iPhone as a secondary device. At the present, you cannot link your WhatsApp account to an Android tablet or iPad utilising multi-device support.

1. Sign up for the multi-device beta by heading to WhatsApp, then Settings > Linked Devices > Multi-Device Beta.

2. Return to the Linked Devices page and press the Link a Device button to add a new device.

3. You will now be prompted to scan a QR code on your secondary device in order to join it to your WhatsApp account.

After you’ve linked your accounts, WhatsApp will allow you to send and receive messages on your other smartphone. You will also be able to see prior messages from the secondary device, albeit messages erased from the primary device will not be displayed on the secondary. Messages deleted from your secondary device will likewise be removed from your phone. This function, however, does not operate with an iPhone.
