Deputies responded Tuesday to 142 N. Oak St., Lakeview, to speak with the electric superintendent for the Village of Lakeview regarding a criminal mischief complaint relating to electric meters at the property.
Village employees checking meters Tuesday discovered that the electric meters at the residence had been tampered with. The meter seals reportedly had been cut and meter to the upstairs apartment had been turned upside down, apparently in an effort to steal electricity.
However , the electric superintendent reported that both meters are electronic and had been remotely disconnected, so stealing electricity was not achieved by the suspect(s).
• Wednesday morning, deputies responded to 8651 State Route 368, Apt. 3A, Huntsville, to speak with James Irwin regarding a theft.
Irwin, who runs Irwin Remodeling and Repair, said two ladders had been stolen from a job site at that location. He also said he had bserved a suspicious vehicle driving by the job site multiple times on Sunday.
• Deputies also responded Wednesday afternoon to 1909 Township Road 179, Bellefontaine, on a report of a theft from a vehicle.
The resident told deputies that $9,000 had been stolen from her unlocked vehicle. She told deputies the money was proceeds she had received after just selling her camper.
Her neighbor also reported that his vehicle had been entered. His wallet containing a credit card, $15 cash and his driver’s license was missing.
• Deputies responded Monday afternoon to 18 E. State Route 273, Belle Center, on another report of a vehicle that had been entered.
The resident told deputies that Nov. 11, he observed that his glove box and center console had been opened, and reported that between $100 to $200 was missing from the vehicle.
