EVERETT — A suspicious device led to the closure of a block of Broadway for a few hours Friday evening.
Officer Kerby Duncan of the Everett Police Department said the street was closed between Melvin Avenue and Howard Avenue out of an abundance of caution. Police did not believe anyone was in danger.
“It was a relatively small explosive device and the bomb squad came out quickly and rendered it inert,” Duncan said.
A property owner in the area reported the device to police.
Duncan said officers will now investigate the device to determine where it came from.
Broadway was reopened to traffic by 7:30 p.m.
