PITTSBURG, Kan. – Investigators find a small amount of incendiary components in a suspicious device discovered near Pittsburg State University.
On Wednesday afternoon, March 3, around 2:50 p.m., Pittsburg police officers responded to the 1500 block area just west of S. Joplin Street after getting a call about the suspicious device.
The Kansas State Highway Patrol’s Hazardous Device Unit arrived on scene shortly before 6:00 p.m. and left with it around 7:20 p.m.
The Pittsburg Police Department says pieces of the device were retained and are being taken to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s Forensic Laboratories for further examination of trace evidence.
Police have no suspects yet.
