BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek City Council has voted to renew the city’s electric aggregation program for another 24-month term, which is expected to lower electric bills for residents.

The city selected Dynegy’s fixed price of 6.928 cents per kWh, which will be applied to customers’ bills beginning in August 2023 and will remain in effect through August 2025, a spokesperson for the municipal government stated in a Facebook post.

Customers will also have the choice to opt into a renewable energy option at 7.310 cents per kWh.

The decision follows a “competitive bid process” that aims to lower residents’ electric bills, the spokesperson said.

“The city is committed to providing affordable and sustainable energy options to its residents,” City Manager Pete Landrum said. “This new rate of 6.928 cents per kWh is a significant relief considering the average price for electric in Ohio is above 10 cents per kWh.”

“By locking in this low rate, we ensure our residents will continue to experience substantial price savings over the next two years,” Landrum continued.
