CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – CDE Lightband joined Seven States Power Corp., TDEC and TVA in a ribbon cutting Thursday morning for the grand opening of four new electric vehicle charging stations as part of the Fast Charge TN program.
The program is dedicated to adding around 80 public fast charging sites across the region, so that EV travelers are never more than 25 miles from the nearest station.
The charging station is off of Exit 11 at 701 Sango Road, located close to the interstate, a restaurant, and a convenience store. About two vehicles are expected to stop at the station each day with a 30- to 45-minute charge time.
Each charging station can accommodate CCS chargers, which is the standard for electric vehicles, and CHAdeMO chargers, which is popular with the Nissan Leaf and Tesla.
As for knowing where to find the charging station, Betsey Kirk McCall, president and CEO of Seven States Power, said several apps can direct drivers to them.
“These chargers are instantly visible to all EV drivers, which will lead them right here to the parking lot,” she said.
TVA’s goal is to have over 200,000 electric vehicles on the road by 2028 by increasing the adoption of EV and reducing barriers to adoption.
