Start your engines. Or, rather, your electric motors. New Jersey on Tuesday announced a regulation that will kick off in 2026 to ultimately phase out gas-powered vehicles by requiring all new car sales to be electric starting in 2035.
In a statement Tuesday, Gov. Phil Murphy called Advanced Clean Cars II a “landmark” rule that will help New Jersey build “upon its standing as a national leader in climate action.”
