Promising change, Electric Tees is not only an organic brand it is a fashion label that is good for our soul. The PETA approved brand is all about being opinionated, fun and bold. Founded by London based eco-warrior Kuben Edwards, Electric Tees makes their base product with a partner in Bangladesh. Their collection is made with fully traceable organic cotton and printed in their workshop in Birmingham, UK. Wearing their supply chain certifications, SOIL ASSOCIATION ORGANIC, OEKO-TEX, OCS BLENDED, OCS 100, FAIRWARE FOUNDATION, GOTS, GRS AND PETA APPROVED, like a badge, I wanted to find out more about this forward-thinking brand. So I gave Edwards a quick call and asked her the following five questions.
(1) What made you take the sustainable route?
I was angry at the indifference and lip service paid to the world. They always say tomorrow things will be better, yet i wake the next day and nothing has changed
(2) How are you acting to bring about change?
I am different because I am respectful of the world. I respect my fellow passengers, human, animal and plant. I do not compromise!
(3) Being seasonless is the new black, have you chosen to take this route?
Yes, we don’t do seasons, instead, we run a line of basic streetwear and line of graphic sweats. Sometimes we run capsules. Everything is made to order. We don’t discount, go on sale. We don’t do returns unless something has gone seriously wrong.
“We don’t discount, go on sale. We don’t do returns unless something has gone seriously wrong.”
Kuben Edwards
(4) Describe your most recent collection?
It is made up of good basics. They are T-Shirts, vests, joggers and shorts. We also included hoodies and sweatshirts. The capsule collection, Peta and Pastel, are as clean as our conscience!
(5) What makes Electric Tees different from other sustainable brands?
We act differently. We push for change. We will pull you with us. We are the monster in the machine.
