Here is how you can apply for the grant
VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria Electric Cooperative, Inc. is now calling for grant submissions for the Community Development Program. It will begin considering and awarding local governments and non-profit groups that submitted their application by April 1, 2022. Applicants must be groups within the counties VEC serves, including Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Jackson, Refugio and Victoria.
If you’re a native to the South Texas region and call any of the surrounding counties home, the Community Development Program is now available for grant submissions. The program is brought to fruition by VEC with allowances from Texas legislation. It helps the VEC provide grants for capital projects that support community and economic development. The program also supports capital projects that are of significant benefit to VEC members and the public.
VEC plans to announce the grant winners in June of 2022 to local governments and non-profit groups, such as:
- civic organizations,
- schools,
- volunteer fire departments,
- libraries,
- emergency medical services,
- museums,
- and historical associations within the counties served by VEC.
Most local governments and non-profit organizations in the counties served by VEC are eligible to apply for the grant.
The projects should only be used solely for the following:
- capital improvements,
- fall n the counties served by VEC,
- and benefit VEC members.
Those who request a grant for $2,500 or more require a 50/50 match for the total project cost.

VEC leadership also encourages also applicants to contact VEC for information regarding full eligibility requirements, as these may have changed from the 2021 selection process.
Each year, VEC decides if funding is available for grants, which are awarded once a year, with applications due on April 1. A committee will only review applications received by the deadline. The selected recipients will then be presented to the VEC Board of Directors for approval.
