PHOENIX — The city of Mesa announced on Thursday that eligible electricity customers could save up to $55 on their bills this summer with the return of an assistance program.
People who receive service directly from the city and whose total household income is less than $27,000 a year can apply for the Summer Electric Assistance Program, according to a press release.
The program eliminates monthly service and usage charges for the first 80-kilowatt hours, which the city said would save customers up to $18.50 on their July, August and September bills.
People who meet the qualifications are urged to apply before May 26. The city is accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis.
Income can be verified by providing either a paycheck stub, a current bank statement demonstrating monthly income or a Social Security Administration Statement of Income.
Those who receive their electricity from Salt River Project are not eligible to participate in the program.
