Crews are fighting what’s being called a large fire on Brunot Island, located in the Ohio River close by the Point in Pittsburgh, according to several news sources.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said at 9:01 p.m. that Duquesne Light reported the fire is a result of a reactor that “catastrophically failed,” according to KDKA.

Firefighters have had to ferry over to fight the flames because there are no roads that connect to the island, several news organizations have said.

To this point, no injuries have been reported, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety, which added that any related hazards are being contained on the island.

Duquesne Light released this statement around 11 p.m. Monday:

“Shortly after 8 p.m. this evening, July 24, an issue with a specialized transformer on Brunot Island resulted in a fire that is still burning. DLC and fire crews are on the scene, and no injuries or power outages have resulted from the incident. Safety continues to be our top priority — for our customers, employees, the public and also the environment. We are continuing to investigate the cause and monitor any further impact.”
